- Go to Start
- In the search menu, type %temp%
- Select the File folder option for %temp% that appears in your start menu. This will open a File Explorer window with your temp files.
- Use CTRL+A to select all of the contents within folder, such as the below.
- Right-click on any of the selected files and Delete. You can also use the "delete" key on your keyboard.
- If you receive a notice such as below, check the box for "do this for all current items" and Skip
- Once this completes, you will still some files in your Temp folder, this is fine as most have been removed. Close the File Explorer window that opened and see if a difference was made on your PC speed.
Check your storage space
- Go to Start and search File Explorer
- Open File Explorer, and scroll all the way down on the left-hand side. Select This PC
- From here, under OS (C:) will be a bar indicating how much storage is being used on your device.
If the bar is red then you will need to clear storage space, usually by deleting old documents, videos or downloads. Take some time and go through your folders on the left-hand side of File Explorer, and remove old or unused files.
If the storage space indicator is blue, such as below, then this is not a concern.
